I realised over the weekend that I completely forgot to tell you what tomorrow’s TPP will be about.  The rest of the Morguefile classes become fairly technical and equipment driven, so we’re moving away from that.  The subject for tomorrow is colour.  Go out and take photographs of various items, concentrating on the colour of the item.  Creating photographs with a red, blue, green, etc theme.  Sweet and simple right?  Enjoy and come show me what you’ve done on the facebook page.

Have you invited your friends to join Making It Work’s facebook page?  If we can get the page likes up to 100, there might just be a prize in there for someone :)

This might be slightly confusing, so let me explain.  I did the first challenge as a book blurp.  Then I did the challenge again (on my parenting blog) in Afrikaans. Still with me? :)

Right so today’s KBC will be done, in English, but based on the second try of last weeks challenge.  Still clear? Here we go…

Hope you all had a great day with today’s TPP.  My day started out slowly.  After several pit stops I finally took a trip around Hartbeespoortdam and took most of these.

Landscape

Nature

This is going to sound terrible, but this bird died seconds before this shot was taken.  Every year for 3 or 4 months we get a huge flock of storks that stay over during our summer time.  Each year we find some that have died next to the road.  This morning when I took the kids to school, this one was lying in the road.  I moved it to the side of the road, but I could see that there wasn’t much hope for it.  Later I returned to find it barely alive. As I setup my tripod to take the picture, the stork died.  Can you see the fly on the eye?

Travel

So boys and girls, what do you think?  Which of these is your favourite shot?

To appease my growing feeling of guilt for ignoring my book and finding other things far more interesting, I’ve completed this challenge as a blurp for my book. Feelings appeased?  sort of…

Sumanda Maritz has been through one of the most difficult things any parent could, the death of her son.  What is inspiring about her is her ability to still laugh.  This short round woman, who changes her hair as often as her mind, has a zest for life that shines through everything she does.  With her big blue eyes and a constant smile on her face, she’ll keep you spellbound with wildly entertaining stories told with huge hand movements. Throwing herself into new hobbies on an almost daily basis, her latest challenge is to become fit and slim again.  Once described by a friend as the person least likely to have kids, she has turned into a wonderful mother.  Giving up a fast paced career to become a work from home mom, Sumanda still enjoys her photography, web design and writing that gives her a sense of more-than-just-a-mother.  This book tells the story about her experience of becoming a first time mom, having twin boys, dealing with a disabled child, the death of her son and the birth of her daughter.  Told with complete honesty, she shares the feelings and thoughts of a mother having to go through very difficult circumstances.

This will be a new weekly feature on my blog.

I recently found out that the last 4000 words (that I thought I’d still be able to save from my crashed laptop) is gone forever. Thing is those 4000 words were very important ones.  I had made structure changes to my book… and now they’re gone…

I’ve been avoiding the idea of having to redo what took me two days to do previously.

Today I came across the Katalina Blog Challenge, and the first challenge is this:

The Katalina Blog Challenge #1: Who Do I Think I Am?

What made me decide to start with this challenge is something she calls I-use-my-blog-as-an-excuse-to-ignore-my-novel block e.g. “Procrastination!”.  Let’s hope the act of doing writing challenges will inspire the completion of my book :-) , which by the way is now (after the catastrophic laptop crash incident) sitting at the 29,656 words.

Wish me luck!
